The Food and Drug Administration -- MedSun project
Online Adverse Event Application, Administrative tools

The Medical Product Safety Network (MedSun) is a pilot program launched in 2002 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). The primary goals for MedSun are to identify, understand and share information about problems with the use of medical devices. MedSun plays an important role in FDA's post-market surveillance effort.

PragmatiQ engineers continue to provide ongoing support and maintenance for the MedSun project for the existing code base written in ASP and ASP.NET. The project utilizes a Microsoft SQL Server database backend. We designed and developed new features to the application to meet the ongoing needs of the FDA. We redesign software elements to be more secure and with fewer software defects. We created all the software architectural design and programming for the award winning Device Safety Exchange (DS-X) application. We designed and developed new software elements to allow analysts to search for information using an easy to use interface. We designed a new XML tool that will transform data from the MedSun database into standard XML abiding by the rules of Health Level Seven (HL7), an open standard for interoperability of health care data.

The American Psychological Association
PracticeNet Online Survey Engine

This scientific and professional organization is based in Washington, D.C., with over 155,000 members It is the largest association of psychologists in the world. They needed a survey application in order to provide information and updates on psychological events.

We helped develop an online survey system that provides instantaneous and continuously updated information about what is happening in the professional psychology world. PracticeNet involves a unique application of Real Time Behavior Sampling (RTBS) methodology that eliminates biases in other more traditional survey methods. The system is designed to capture specific moments or snapshots of practitioner activity.

We are continuing to work with APA to provide ongoing maintenance and technical support to the PracticeNet Survey System, and to develop new features and surveys, as well.
